What to expect when you arrive at camp.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Please refer to your confirmation email for exact dates of your child's camp dates.<\/p>\n

Check-in is from 2:00-3:30pm, at the LOMC Office.<\/p>\n

When entering LOMC off Route 2, please drive all the way up the hill until you reach the stop sign. Please park in the large lot next to the LOMC Office.<\/p>\n

Leave luggage in your vehicle until completing check-in. Staff will direct you later on where to place your camper's belongings.<\/p>\n

All campers will have their health form reviewed at check-in.
Bring all medications in their original container(s) at check-in. Place all medication containers in one zip-lock bag labeled with the camper's name and camp name.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Camper Release Policy<\/h2>\n

To protect your camper, no camper is released to anyone other than a parent or guardian without a release form signed by the parent or guardian and photo ID. The release form can be obtained at the registration station on check-in day.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/section>

MAIL<\/strong>
Mail is distributed to campers once a day. Plan to mail your first letter the Saturday BEFORE they leave so they receive your letter early in the week. Please do not send food or candy.<\/p>\n

TELEPHONE CALLS<\/strong>
Parents are welcome to call camp with any concerns or questions regarding your camper. The LOMC office number is 815-732-2220.<\/p>\n

Campers are not permitted to receive or make calls due to the number of campers we have on site.<\/p>\n

Campers are not permitted to have cell phones, as they would be disruptive to the camp experience and having a phone often promotes homesickness.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>

Three plentiful, nutritious meals a day - plus a snack.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Campers are served three plentiful and nutritious meals a day as well as an evening snack.<\/p>\n

Meals include camper-friendly items from pizza, chicken breast, breakfast burritos and more. Breakfast includes options such as cereal and fruit. Lunch and Dinner both include a salad bar filled with fruits and vegetables. Every camper should be able to find something to eat!<\/p>\n

We will gladly accommodate food allergies and other special dietary needs. Please communicate any special food needs to LOMC prior to your camper's arrival so we can be prepared to meet those needs.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/section>

Health & Safety<\/h2>\n

Your camper's wellbeing is our top priority.<\/p>\n<\/div>

\n

Camper health and safety is very important to us. We take many measures to make sure that campers have a safe camp experience.<\/p>\n

All LOMC staff members are trained to respond appropriately to emergency situations and are certified in First Aid and CPR\/AED.<\/p>\n

LOMC has 5 onsite AED units in the case of cardiac arrest.<\/p>\n

Water activities, i.e. swimming at the pool and canoeing take place only in the presence of certified lifeguards.<\/p>\n

First Aid is available 24 hours a day from summer staff. If additional care is needed, there is a medical clinic in Oregon IL and the OSF Saint Katharine Medical Center in nearby Dixon IL.<\/p>\n

We record all health-related activity. If you would like to know more at the end of the week, please ask your child's counselor.<\/p>\n

We are in contact with local police and emergency services who are very aware of youth camp needs.<\/p>\n

Campers live in small group units with adult to child ratios appropriate for the camper's age. Campers are supervised at all times by LOMC summer staff.<\/p>\n

Please be sure to provide current contact information when you register, including all mobile numbers.<\/p>\n

If emergency care is required, we will contact you (after care is taken for your camper) in the event of the following conditions:<\/p>\n

Significant bleeding
Loss of consciousness
Medical questions regarding treatment
Any condition that requires treatment in the emergency room.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/section>

Homesickness<\/h2>\n

How you can help before camp even begins.<\/p>\n<\/div>

\n

Homesickness is a natural reaction to separation from familiar surroundings and routines. While our staff is prepared to work with campers who become homesick, there are a few very important things you can do to support our staff before your child comes to camp:<\/p>\n

Help your camper understand that feeling homesick is natural!<\/p>\n

Language makes a difference. Emphasize that your camper is \"going\" to camp; try to avoid saying you are \"sending\" them away to camp.<\/p>\n

Avoid statements like \"I'm going to miss you so much. I can't wait for you to come home.\" Why? Camp will be a terrific experience! Be careful not to make your camper feel bad about going away. Instead, say things like \"I'm so excited for you! You'll have a great time!\"<\/p>\n

Share your own positive camp experiences!<\/p>\n

Please don't tell your child they can come home if they become homesick. If you do, this will suggest to them that they may actually experience homesickness. Also, please don't tell your camper that they can call home. Campers are not allowed to use the phone, as it may increase homesickness.<\/p>\n

If a camper does become homesick, LOMC staff will work hard to help your camper deal with these emotions that they are feeling. Staff are trained very thoroughly to handle homesickness.<\/p>\n

By preparing at home, you can help your camper avoid homesickness and enjoy a fun, successful and wonderful experience with caring friends and staff members at camp.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/section>

LOMC Staff Information<\/strong>
All of our summer staff are over the age of 18 and many are interested in childcare, teaching, ministry, nursing, recreation, or camping as future careers.<\/p>\n

Staff can come from all over the country and have many different backgrounds. A diverse staff adds to the experience that your camper will have at camp!<\/p>\n

All staff are trained in First Aid and CPR\/AED.<\/p>\n

Staff participate in 2 weeks of training before camp starts, as well as continuous training throughout the summer.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>

Lost and Found<\/strong>
Please label items with the camper's name. This makes it easier for us to return lost items. Found items will be held for two weeks. After two weeks, the items may be donated to a local charity or otherwise disposed of.<\/p>\n

Please do not allow your camper to bring expensive items (like cell phones) or sentimental items to camp.<\/p>\n

LOMC is not responsible for items that are lost, stolen or damaged.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

Refund Policy<\/strong>
The deposit paid at registration is non-refundable.<\/p>\n

A refund of the remaining balance is made only if a camper cannot be placed in a program or if it is necessary for LOMC to cancel the program.<\/p>\n

After June 1, partial refunds will be considered on a case by case basis and only in the case of extenuating family circumstances or medical reasons supported by a doctor's statement.<\/p>\n

No refunds will be made for campers arriving late, leaving early, or attending only part of the program or for those who fail to show up.<\/p>\n

Transportation While At LOMC<\/strong>
Depending on the program, campers may need on-site or off-site transportation.<\/p>\n

LOMC drivers are licensed, insured and specially trained and certified to drive 15-passenger vans.<\/p>\n

All transportation is provided only in LOMC designated vehicles which are insured, maintained and inspected.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

Photo Gallery<\/strong>
Photos will be uploaded on a rolling basis throughout each week of summer camp. Parents and guardians should receive a link to the photo album for their campers' respective weeks, where they can find their campers' photos.<\/p>\n<\/div>
